What is your book Regency Rumours about?

Regency Rumours is about a young woman who has learned there are rumours going around about her father and brother being traitors to the crown before they died. When she is mistaken for a lady’s maid, she decides to take advantage of the misunderstanding to learn the truth and tries to find a way to prove that her family was innocent of any wrongdoing.

What drew you to the Regency Era?

I fell in love with the Regency Era when I first read Pride and Prejudice when I was thirteen years old. The more I learned about the time period-the fashion and everything that happened in that time-it is the perfect setting for a mystery.

What do you like best about writing a series?

I love being able to really get to know a character in a series. There is the time in a series for a character to grow and change with everything that happens. For example, my character, Juliet, goes from being a sheltered, grieving young woman to one who isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and learn the truth.

Can you describe Juliet in 3 words?

Determined, clever, loyal.

Who would be your dream cast for a movie adaptation of Regency Rumours?

I am going to show just how much I am not up to date with popular actors since all the actors I know are from period dramas released ten or more years ago. These are the actors I’ve had in mind since I began writing:

Juliet Sinclair: Charity Wakefield
Oswyn Harper: JJ Field
Eugenia Burnham: Felicity Jones
Mrs. Burnham: Alice Krige
Mr. Burnham: Rupert Graves
Molly: Mia Goth
Bridges: Mark Dymond

How did you approach blending mystery and historical fiction in this novel?

For me, life is already full of little mysteries, so it wasn’t that difficult to weave a larger mystery–like discovering the source of malicious rumours–into a historical setting. I love being able to take the facts of history, the things that did happen, and finding ways to add in something that didn’t happen but it could have.
